Galette du Roi (Almond In Puff Pastry Cake)


It is a tradition that one week after the christmast the French prepare a special cake to represent the visit of the kings to meet the baby Christ. Why it took one week to meet the baby Christ after his birth? well, in his time there was not yet a jet plane, so the kings came on their horses that took one week to reach Jerusalem.

The special cake is called ‘Galette du Roi’ . It is so delicious yet easy to prepare.

Voila the recipe!


  • 100 gr butter
  • 125 gr sugar
  • 150 gr almond powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 layers of puff pastry
  • 1/4 tea sp of vanilla powder

How to cook:

  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
  • Prepare one layer of puff pastry ina round cake pan (28 cm). Add the mixture then cover it with the other layer of puff pastry.
  • Preheat the oven for 220 celcius degree. Cook the cake for 30 minutes.
